Quick answers

  • Start with one main colour and one accent.
  • A screen sample communicates direction rather than a guaranteed exact match.
  • Keep lettering readable against the chosen background.

Extract the palette, not every pattern

An outfit can contain embroidery, shine, texture and several colours. Copying all of them can make a small cake feel crowded. Choose the colour that should dominate, one accent that connects to the celebration and a quieter background. Tell Mari which of those choices is essential and which can change if the decoration needs more contrast.

Expect colour to change in light

Indoor warm lighting, daylight and phone screens can make the same colour look different. Send a clear reference in ordinary light if colour is important, and describe it in words as well. ‘Dusty rose, not a bright pink’ communicates more than an unlabelled screenshot. Confirm the interpretation with Mari before finalising.

Try the palette in the studio

Choose a studio preset, change the frosting and details colour, then save an alternative. Keep shape and decorations constant while comparing colours so you can see what changed. The sketch is a planning illustration; it does not establish a real frosting colour, ingredient or guaranteed finish.

Questions people ask

Can you guarantee an exact screen colour?

Confirm the colour direction with Mari. Screens, light and materials affect the appearance.

How many colours should I choose?

Start with a main colour, one accent and a background. More colours can be discussed for a particular design.
