Design notes: gingham, piping and a vintage heart
Look closely at real vintage cake VI·03: a pink grid, heart outline and repeated borders. Learn which details to prioritise in your own cake brief.

Quick answers
- VI·03 combines a patterned top with repeated side details.
- The central message has its own framed area.
- Use the photograph to explain a pattern, not to infer a size or price.
Three visible decisions
The top of VI·03 carries a pink checked pattern around a smaller heart-shaped message area. The sides repeat curved pink piping, with small bow-like details at intervals. A pale border around the base gives the decorated surface a clear edge. The pink-and-white palette links these different patterns without introducing many competing colours.

The checked pattern is visually busy, so the central message area is quieter. That is useful when planning your own wording. If you want to keep a strong pattern, ask how the name or short phrase can remain readable. A longer message may require a different balance or a separate board line rather than simply smaller lettering.
Choose what to retain
You might love the heart outline but prefer fewer patterns, or want the checks with a simpler side. Explain those as separate choices. Compare VI·03 with another vintage reference and save both if the difference helps. Mari confirms what changes are feasible and what the final quote includes.

The studio does not reproduce the gingham pattern exactly. Use it for outline and colours, then discuss the reference’s decorative work with Mari.
Questions people ask
Will the studio reproduce every piping detail?
No. It shows a simplified design direction. Keep the real photograph in the enquiry.
Can I ask for fewer patterns?
Yes. Identify the one feature you want to keep and ask Mari about a simpler version.
